It's pretty common to have to re-organize a design where features on one part have to move to another part and vice versa. It's quite common to make a change in a design that reverberates across many parts. In leading 3D modelers, parts tend to be independent, and this workflow is often referred to as Bottom-Up. This means that a dimensional change that affects several parts requires the change be implemented on each part separately and then the whole assembly checked for errors.
To3D was designed as a Top-Down design tool where designs capture relationships between parts, so that a dimensional change will update all affected parts. To see how this works, select this link or click on the image to the left

The design shown created in To3D. It's a very flexible design and when parts change, all the holes still line up, and the parts still fit together properly.
